 About Hafield

Hatfield is a town located in Hampshire County with a population of 3,284 Founded in 1660 and formally incorporated in 1670, Hatfield is one of the region's oldest incorporated towns. Hatfield, although a small town, has had some historically significant events in its towns history. Three fun facts about Hatfield are:

• On October 16, 1675 a large portion of the town was destroyed in King Philip's War.

• In 1786, Hatfield was used as an assembly area for upset soldiers and Americans who later became part of Shays Rebellion. 

• Hatfield is the Birthplace of Sophia Smith who would later go on to found Smith College.
